BIO
Dr. Allen followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a nurse after concluding her career as an aircraft electrician - including serving 11 years in the United States Navy.
Dr. Allen is dual certified as a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner and a family nurse practitioner; she has over 13 years of nursing experience and has enjoyed providing patient care in cardiac, respiratory, med/surg, step-down, ICU, long-term care, and outpatient psychiatric settings.
Her passion for providing psychiatric care stems from recognizing family members who have struggled with mental illness. Dr. Allen strives to provide her community with accessible, evidenced-based mental health care, which prompted her to open her own outpatient mental healthcare practice in a semi-rural area of Virginia in 2020.
Dr. Allen is a member of several professional and educational organizations, including the American Nurses Association, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Theta Tau International - Chi Pi Chapter.
